The Little Theatre
HEBDEN BRIDGE LITTLE THEATRE was formed in 1924 and has
been producing plays almost continuously ever since, in places
as various as the Co-operative Hall, the Picture House, the
Band Rooms on the park, and for a prolonged period (1937
-1977) in the Ground Floor of the Trades Club.
This came to an end with a major fund-raising and building
project that culminated in the opening of the present 120 seat
theatre in 1993.
The theatre has a delightfully intimate atmosphere, and the
bar and waterside patio make a visit to the Little Theatre a
thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Tickets are available:

Alternative Technology Centre
The Alternative Technology Centre (ATC) is a
not-for-profit organisation established in 1999 on the
banks of the Rochdale Canal in Hebden Bridge. As an
educational resource centre, we aim to make sustainability
achievable and simply irresistible by working from a
strong base within our local community to provide
inspiration, accessible information and advice to improve
the quality of life using sustainable means – economic,
environmental and social.
The ATC has just undergone a refurbishment program, funded
by Yorkshire Forward, that has improved and added to the
existing facilities – creating a new exhibition room - the
One Planet Living exibit around sustainable development –
what it means and how it can be achieved, using the
concept that many little things add up to a big thing.

Heptonstall Museum
In the centre of this charming village lies Heptonstall
Museum, situated in the Old Grammar School Building.
Heptonstall Grammar School was established in 1642 - the
present building was rebuilt in 1771, where it continued to be
used as a school until 1889.
In 1898 it became the Yorkshire Penny Bank whose staff were
careful to preserve some of the original features of the
school: including a black oak desk at which pupils took their
lessons which can still be found inside the Museum today.
If you take a visit to Heptonstall Museum you will also
discover the interior of a weaver’s cottage and displays of
other local industries such as clog making. The museum also
illustrates the domestic life of the villagers, with objects
such as lump head irons and havercake boards alongside
photographs of the local football team at the turn of the
century and visits made to the local leisure site - Hardcastle
Crags.
Heptonstall Museum is the ideal starting point for
exploring this intimate and charming village.
